(Last weekend on the Cumberland Trail...home!)
Okay, I’ll have to admit it was nice not to have a race last weekend. Sleep late, run something new close to home, work in the yard, give in to urge to spring clean, and generally enjoy the spectacular weather that always seems to be on the wrong side of my office window…but I’m really looking forward to the Promise Land 50K course this weekend.
For some reason I’ve never run this. Maybe it hits when the pull to weed the garden and wash the windows actually occurs. Who knows? Anyway, the course is supposed to be gorgeous and the wildflowers should be fantastic right about now.
50ks are nice, especially those within reasonable driving distance, because you can go, run, have a great day and still get back home in time to enjoy some quality time with the cats on Sunday. I love 100s but at this moment in time, a 50k seems to be the best of both worlds.
Next weekend is Miwok 100k, in California, supposedly one of the most scenic ultra courses ever. Hard to believe that looking around at everything in sight here blooming right now.
